My market elves!

As many of you know, I have taken on the task of the director of the Idaho Springs Farmers Market. It has been quite the experience, and of course, how would it be possible without such wonderful help? The girls spend a long day Friday helping me run from booth to booth, chat with folks, and keep track of everything that goes on- okay, who am I kidding? I do those things, and they get spoiled by the vendors, model the crafts, and devour whatever produce is handed to them! They are particularly fond of the Miller Farms booth, where they are showered with giggles, and yummy things to eat! LUCKY US!

Giraffes

The amazing part of this zoo, is the attraction where you can feed the giraffe. You buy chunks of lettuce, and these gangly awkward creatures gravitate right to you, looking at you with their sweet large deep eyes- right before they stick out their foot long, purple/grey tongues. It is just a hoot! They are extremely gentle, and Im not sure how, but never use their teeth. Their tongues wrap around the lettuce like a trunk would, and slurp! Into their mouths it goes! WE all had a blast, and even maya joined in the fun after a bit! Okay, you win- yours is longer! Molly is about to get a giraffe version of a wet willy right here! Besos for the baby giraffa! Love the tip toes! Our little girl is getting so darn big- she is so in love with the world around her. Her curiosity and wonder never cease to amaze me. I am so blessed.

This is one of those times that as a mother, I knew this wasnt going to go well, but for some reason, didnt suggest we not do it. Papa thought it would make a great shot, and well, he was right! Molly is minus a chunk of hair, the giraffe was confused about the hairball in his mouth, and the hat was saved! All turned out okay, and after a wee bit of tears, it was forgotten about, and she kept on feeding him!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

What a GREAT zoo! In all my years living in Colorado, Ive never been there, and wow, is it a wonderful treasure of a place. It is amazingly interactive. You can feed the giraffe (which you will see in the next blog!), we pet a baby wallaby, fed beautiful birds, and stood within a foot from full size wallabies that just have their free range of the place. The bears put on an amazing show, a deer walked right in front of us, we watched the trainers work with the elephants-clean and feed them, and it just could not have been a more amazing afternoon together as a family!

The lake opens up!

So, here it is June, and the lake is only just starting to lose its ice. Papa sees that it seems more open than not, and takes the girls out on a "Shackleton" expedition. The girls loved it, snacked on fruit snacks, cooed at the ducks, and looked for fish. The next morning, I was included in the adventure, and we personally took on the challenge of breaking up as much of the remainder of the ice on the lake that we possibly could. We are all so ready for summer to REALLY be here!

With the snow melted, our little waterfall at our property line is chug-a-lugging along. Papa was curious, so we all went out to check it out! One more opportunity for great photo opts!

Abuelita's Garden

The last night before we were headed home. Without saying anything, I think all of us wanted to soak up every last bit of sunshine, and together time that we could possibly get. Visits together dont come often enough, and this one was just what the Colorado girls all needed. So much love, so many sweet besos, so many smiles that reach through the entire body, into the soul. So much love...
