We watched the devastation from a far this fall, as I listened to horror stories about places special to me from my childhood. The destruction brought out the best in the people from Gold Hill, as they pulled together, saved the town, and worked together to raise money, and help those that lost everything. The fund raiser was a wonderful day, filled with sunshine, tears, laughter, and strength- not to mention good ol' blue grass music for us all to dance to. I loved being with my sweet girls in a place as amazing as the one I was lucky enough to grow up in.
Looking at these photos reminds me of how very blessed I am with such an amazing and affectionate family. While they still have their moments, these two girls have really become good friends. It is so fun to watch them interact. Maya is constantly watching Molly, and equal parts follows her lead, or does her own thing. And the third musketeer- this darling dog of ours fits right in. He ADORES the girls. His tale couldn't possibly wag with more affection for them when they first wake up in the morning-covering their faces with besos. He is patient and gentle with them, and has become the perfect addition to our family.
Following the suggestion of a friend, we explored a new hiking trail. It was just what the girls needed...an easy hike, great temps, and a perfect little water hole to top it all off. The boys swam, and molly and maya splashed and played. What a great little find!
We have the absolute BEST camp spot ever in Moab. It is hidden at the edge of the Canyon Lands on BLM land, and is always empty. We love it! The girls run around naked, this time we flew a kite, ate great meals, and of course marvel at the sunrises, sunsets, and blanket of stars. Rio seems completely relaxed with his camping experience! What a great Moab weekend
Uncle Geoff finished defending his thesis and needed to get out of dodge (or Calgary)- So off we went to meet him in Moab for some warm weather, good conversation, and relaxation. I love doing this sort of thing with our girls-exposing them to people we love and respect in a setting that doesn't get much more beautiful. A great weekend trip!
i have searched high and low for a new, easier and more efficient way to share with friends and family the incredible little being who is becoming, more so with each passing hour, molly winona hochmuth.
It seems that "blogging" is the best way to accomplish this sharing- no more emails with ten zillion image files- instead i'll just let you know that there has been a new post made here.
seems fitting, then, to start this digital journal today- as we mark the beginning of her 4th month on the planet- with a group of my favorite images from the past three months...
