This blog comes with the funniest of stories. Jessie wanted to get the kiddos out camping and on the river, and we thought it would be a great idea. Mother nature had different ideas, as the only day we could do an over night was socked in, and just pouring rain the whole time. We wavered as to if we should try to be tough, or if it would be miserable, looked at the increasingly yucky weather on the weather channel, and then finally said "what the heck, lets give it a go!" I cant explain to you without writing a novel what we drove through on our way to the Colorado River put in at Pumphouse. Down pouring, never ending, relentless rain. Fog, Hail, mist, might have had some snow, it was ridiculous. Brett kept insisting that it might clear up just around the bend, so we keep on driving. We get to the put in, it clears up, the clouds break above us, and we were greeted with a rainbow, just as the sun goes down. The kids enjoyed a campfire, and smores, and the night went well.
The next morning, it was cloudy and yucky again, and against my best judgment, we decided to push for it, and try for a day on the river. It couldnt have been better. The sky once again, seemed to magically open up, and we didnt get a drop of rain all day. It was amazing. Hindi giggled her way through the small rapids, and both of the Copeland kids seemed to really enjoy themselves. Jessie was brave enough to try some cliff jumping, where she earned herself a battle scar (bruise) to the likes that I have never seen in my life! It was a spectacular day- one that I am so glad my husband pushed to convince us would be worth it. It was more than worth it!
