An attempt at potty training!

We have tired several times to convince Maya that potty training was a good idea. This particular time cracks me up, since she has on a long john type pj top, a winter hat and some puddle boots....obviously with no chones. It is good to protect your head from the cold, your feet from possible wet situations, but you butt? That one is a little bit more optional!

So many lessons learned from a butterfly!

Brandie and Ivan gave Molly a great present for her b-day: a butterfly habitat. We were all so excited for the whole experience, and it looked so darn good in theory! Our home however, is a hostile environment for mariposas....No matter where I tried to put them, the cats repeatedly knocked their enclosure down. Out of 6 cocoons, two hatched in a way that allowed them to fly freely, the others, not so much! Molly had a BLAST at the community garden, the two butterflies go. She actually carried one of them around for about 40 mins, and took it on a bike ride...(I know, can you even imagine what that creature was thinking, or later told his little friends?) She finally set the last one go, and still enjoys talking about them- flyer and flitter.

Hand Knit fuzzies!

We are so fortunate in our family, with all the love and time that goes into so many of the girls home made clothes. Both of these sweaters were made by my mom- the kick here, is that the red one was made for me, when I was Molly's age. Pretty neat!

Spring Skiing with friends

By chance, we all headed up to ski Loveland the same day that Molly's good friend Thade and his family. What a great, warm Colorado spring days with friends. Maya LOVED her first experience with skis. She wanted mama to run her again and again up the mountain, and ski back down. Molly on the other had was a bit envious of Thade's ability to turn on his own, and stop- which gave him the freedom to ski without the straps. "Papa, I want to do it on my own!" This of course makes him so darn proud, but he wisely set the rule, that if you cant turn and stop, you cant go on your own!

Afternoon light with papa

The photo shoot continues after the tubby ends...I love how Maya adores her little "maya size" stuffies! And even though he doesn't look amused, Rio is a wonderfully sweet and affectionate pup with his favorite two girls.

Tubby light

An evening at home with Papa, who always takes advantage of sweet afternoon light in the tub! Sweet sisters really are starting to play more, and enjoy each others company!

A frog on a snow walk in the woods....

A day tagging along with Papa as he does a photo shoot of a sick pup...Molly is enjoying the challenge of balancing along a snowy train track! Don't worry, the train only operates in the warm summer season!

Big Girl Birthday

Funny for me to reflect back on this day, three months ago. Brett took the photo, and we both thought what a sweet big girl she seemed to be. She marveled at her new big girl jewelry box with the dancer inside. Now looking back, it amazes me to see how young her face looks, only a few months before. They do grow so very fast before your very eyes.

What a sweet crew of friends- helping Molly's 3rd birthday to be a special sweet day!

Beautiful girl....

Molly constantly amazes me these days. She is growing so fast, and seems so grown up. She is sensitive, sweet, affectionate, passionate, curious, the list keeps going. How can someone be so beautiful- hair unbrushed and in her scrubby clothes, and still somehow capture papa's lens, and both of our hearts?

Nutella!!!!!

Im not even sure nutella is remotely good for you....but they love it! And you cant help but smile at two adorable girls, having fun together, with sweet messy faces!

Outside fun!

Molly really is getting the hang of her skis, learning all about balancing in those awkward boots. She loves "squashing spiders" and trying to turn. Papa is proud, needless to say of his little tomboy! Rio of course is thrilled for the extra play time outdoors!

Glacier sledding

We were greeted with a beautiful day at the end of January, and decided to hike up to the glacier for some great sledding. Maya got more of a kick out of it this time than Molly did. Might have something to do with the face plant she and papa took on her first run! These are the types of days where we are reminded how beautiful a place we live in, even in the dead of winter!
